The Series date for the Daniel Boone round of the DM Sports Women's World Mx Series Championships has been rescheduled back to it's origional date of April 28-29.

This information is hot off the press, courtesy of Barbara Wesotski of NY.  For all you women racing in the D-34 region, here's the latest scoop on women's racing in the area.  Women's MX racing this year in D-34 will be at Walden, Diamondback, and Claverack:

Diamondback has added a women's class!  This is a major
breakthrough event as this is a great track and a place that hasn't had a
women's class in about a decade, and the owner John Coen has generously
agreed to add an open women's class this year.

Walden will have 2 classes:  Women's Open which is any age and any bike
80cc's and up.  And a 60cc class for little girls.  All motos will be on the
mini track, 2 motos per class, trophies, and our own practice in the
morning.  Neither our motos nor our practice will be combined with any other
class.  Women who want to race the main track can sign up for one of the
novice classes and you can also run the "club special" class on the mini
track if you have a 4stroke bike.  Turnout last year was pretty good at
Walden and we hope it will be even better in 2001!

Diamondback John Coen was also concerned about the women's safety and he
was still undecided about which class we would be combined with but was
determined that he decide the safest one.  He was leaning towards combining
us with the +35 class.  We have left this judgement to him.  The women class
will be combined with another class but will have a staggered start and
women can practice in the morning with the 80s instead of having to go out
there with the novices.  John asks that women run red backgrounds with white
numbers which I know alot of you have already.  This is a great track and I hope you all come check it out.  Of course if we don't have a lot of women race this year he won't give us the class again next year.

Claverack This track is a little further upstate and turnout was minimal
last year.  But if you make the trip this is the best track of all,
old-school mx with not a lot of jumps and a beautiful setting.  Women will
be combined with another class (probably +40) and I don't think they will
give us a staggered start though I will continue to ask.  They also will
allow you to practice with the 80s.  And I have asked that this year they
give women trophies instead of plaques.  They groaned, but hopefully they
will come through.

Racing starts March 11 at Diamondback and continues through November 4.
To get the race schedule for the year go to http://www.waldenmx.com/2001cal.htm
This is the complete district 34 schedule for the year.

You may notice "Waldencross" on the race schedule.  These are occasional
Saturday races on the Walden mini track and they are run in a supercross
format with qualifiers and one main, starting later in the day on Saturday
and only lasting for a few hours, with nonstop practice allowed on the main
track at the same time.  I did one once and it was a lot of fun.  Most of us
qualify for the novice class and since we're racing that mini track a whole
lot more than the guys we could actually do pretty good out there.  Its
worth checking out.

Finally, I hope to see alot if not all of you at the track this year!
So please email me any questions or if you need more information.

See you at the races!
- Barbara
